We often think of slavery existing only after the Trans-Atlantic
slave trade, which began in mass around the 1600’s.
This however, is far from the truth. Our people were
in bondage and slavery during much of our stay in Africa
before even the first European ship landed on Africa’s
shores and brought us to the Americas as slaves. During
that time however, we knew our true heritage and referred
to ourselves not as Blacks or African Americans, but
as Jews, the Holy People, the Hebrew Israelites of the
Scriptures.
The continuous bondage that our people found ourselves
in was a direct result of our disobedience to the commands
of our Creator, YHWH.
After the slaughter and dispersion from our land by
the Romans in 70 AD, the Jews, continued to be persecuted.
Flavius Josephus, a famous Jew of antiquity and renown
historian, chronicled our horrific perils as we were
put out of our land in his book, “War of the Jews”.
A quote found in Book 6, Chapter 9, Section 2 states:
“And now, since his soldiers were already quite
tired with killing men, and yet there appeared to be
a vast multitude still remaining alive, Caesar gave
orders that they should kill none but those that were
in arms, and opposed them, but should take the rest
alive. |

But, together with
those whom they had orders to slay, they slew the aged and
the infirm; but for those that were in their flourishing age,
and who might be useful to them, they drove them together
into the temple, and shut them up within the walls of the
court of the women . . . the young men he chose out the tallest
and most beautiful, and reserved them for the triumph; and
as for the rest of the multitude that were above seventeen
years old, he put them into bonds, and sent them to the Egyptian
mines Titus also sent a great number into the provinces, as
a present to them, that they might be destroyed upon their
theatres, by the sword and by the wild beasts; but those that
were under seventeen years of age were sold for slaves.
This historical account records the fact that our people were
not only slaughtered in mass, but were sent to the Roman arenas
and coliseums to fight both gladiators and lions to the death,
all in the name of entertainment Those Jews unfit for the
sport were sold as slaves for the Egyptian salt mines of the
Sahara.
Salt was a highly prized commodity. It was often used as money.
The latin term “salary” is derived from it. Just
as the labor of the Jews built the Egyptian pyramids, and
the entire industry of America’s south and the Caribbean
sugar cane industry, our ancestors’ sweat and tears
also built and mined the salt mines of Africa. This was truly
back breaking work These large slabs of salt weighed as much
as 220 pounds each.
This hard work would continue as we continued to be sold amongst
the Africans.
Almost 500 years later, at the beginning of the seventh century
A.D some of the tribes of the Jews settled in the African
Islamic city of Medina. Back then, as we are to day, we were
living amongst the disagreeables. There were three Jewish
tribes located in this area, the., Banu Qainuka'a, Banu Nadhir
and Banu Qurayza. As time went on, all three tribes became
well established, they were entrepreneurs of industry, business
and commerce, the Muslims on the other hand were all farmers.
This living arrangement worked for some time. Some time that
is, until Muhammad, the prophet of Islam, migrated into Medina.
He changed the state of the Muslims and set up a Charter with
the Jews. He ruled over them and they agreed to help defend
the city in case of invasion. Initially the change was peaceful.
But various battles between the Jews and Muslims began. The
two smaller Jewish tribes were defeated in battles with the
Muslims and were expelled from the land.
They were put out and had to leave their belongings, herds
of animals, tools and left with only the clothes on their
backs. This left the third Jewish tribe of Qurayza alone.
Another invading nation came up to the city and the third
Jewish tribe was responsible for helping the Muslims fight.
We did not, instead we conspired with the invading nation
to defeat the Muslims. The story did not end well for our
people.
Once again, we forgot the Commands given to us by our Creator,
YHWH. We chose, against the direction of the Holy scriptures,
to join forces with a pagan nation twice instead of relying
upon our God and petitioning Him for salvation. Although the
tribe had good intentions to defeat and destroy Islam, allying
with a heathen nation is strictly forbidden by YHWH. This
decision led to 25 day siege on our camp by the Muslims, and
a subsequent slaughter of our men and the sale of our women
and children once again into slavery.
While the smaller Jewish tribes escaped this fate the third
Jewish tribe was almost annihilated. The men of the Qurayza
Jewish tribe were publicly beheaded individually and their
heads and bodies were thrown into the trenches built for their
last battle. Over 600 men were slaughtered. The women and
children were once again sold into slavery for horses and
weapons. Muhammad, in addition to taking 1/5 of the property
even took one of the wives of the slain Qurayza men, known
for her beauty, for his own concubine. This is even documented
the Quran, Book Sura chapter 33 verses 26-27.
