What
is the Color of the Israelite?
The question is not one you hear asked in most churches,
schools, or hardly anywhere. To many people, this question
is as ridiculous as asking
"What color is an orange or an apple?" The
reason for that is all our lives we have been exposed
to a white Jesus.
In addition, our family bible portrays the Israelites
as white people that identify themselves as the "Jews".
Ironically according to history, archaeology, and the
bible itself, the ancient Hebrew Israelites (also known
as the Jews) were depicted as dark skinned and on numerous
occasions were mistaken to be Egyptians or Cushites
(Ethiopians) due to the similarity of their skin tones. |

It wasn't until very
recently, however, that the Europeans finally admitted that
the ancient Egyptians and Cushites were black! Hollywood had
us all fooled! The fact of the matter is; the Greek word,
Egyptians means "black" and the Greek word, Ethiopia
means "burnt-faced".
Further proof that the Hebrew Israelite, like the
Egyptians were dark skinned is found in the biblical story
of Joseph, (one of the 12 sons of Israel [Jacob]). Joseph's
older 10 brothers were jealous of him because he was the favorite
son of their father. Moved with envy, they sold their brother
into slavery who ended up in the black nation of Egypt. There
Joseph was imprisoned, but YHWH not only delivered Joseph
out of prison, but He raised him up to be the ruler 2nd in
command in Egypt! This was during the time of a great famine.
Israel and his sons believed Joseph to be dead after all those
years, and during this time of famine, Jacob sent his sons
to buy corn in Egypt.
Here was Joseph standing among the Egyptians, and his own
brothers didn't know him! They thought he was an Egyptian
since he obviously looked like them, not to mention that he
was dressed like an Egyptian ruler whom they had just made
obeisance to! Joseph even made himself strange to his brothers
by speaking to them in the Egyptian tongue through an interpreter
(Gen. 42:23). Finally, Joseph made himself known to his brothers,
that he was indeed their brother, a Hebrew Israelite, not
an Egyptian!
Now when Pharaoh heard this thing, he
sought to slay Moses. But Moses fled from the face of Pharaoh,
and dwelt in the land of Midian: and he sat down by a well.
Now the priest of Midian had seven daughters: and they came
and drew water, and filled the troughs to water their father's
flock.
And the SHEPHERDS came and drove them away: but Moses stood
up and helped them, and watered their flock. And when they
came to Reuel their father, he said, How is it that ye are
come so soon to day? And they said, An Egyptian delivered
us out of the hand of the SHEPHERDS, and also drew water enough
for us, and watered the flock. (Exodus: 3:15-19).
Here's further Biblical proof that Moses was dark skinned:
